The Impact We Have

NY Common Pantry Program Goals & Outcomes:

LiveHealthy

FY16 Goal a): 80% of the school age children participating in Eat Well, Keep Moving program will show an improvement in their knowledge of the benefits of physical activity.

FY16 Goal b): 70% of the adults participating in Eat Healthy, Be Active workshop and Cooking Matters at the Store Tours will improve in their knowledge of appropriate serving sizes for each of the five food groups and the importance of calorie balance.

Goal a) NYCP met the goal for the contract period ending September 30, 2015. Pre- and post-intervention evaluations indicated that there was a statistically significant increase in the number of children who identified the benefits for bone strength, muscle-building, and school performance. With 75% of the reporting period complete toward the goal for Contract Year 2016, we are exceeding the goal with 91.5% completed toward the goal.

Goal b) NYCP exceeded the goal for the contract period ending September 30, 2015. 83% of adults reported that they checked the ingredients list for whole grain identification after participating in Eat Healthy, Be Active classes. 74% reported that they checked food labels for nutrition information after participating in Eat Healthy, Be Active classes. With 75% of the reporting period complete toward the goal for Contract Year 2016, we are on track to meet the goal with 65% completed toward the goal.

ChoicePantry

FY16 Goal a): Provide 9,500 unique households with food, for 2,850,000 meals.

FY16 Goal b): Serve at least 5,000 children.

Goal a) NYCP met 87.7% of part one and 91.2% of part two of the goal. We provided 8,334 unique households with 2,601,362 meals.

Goal b) NYCP met 97% of the goal. We served 4,868 children in FY16.

Help365

FY16 Goal a): Screens at least 2,000 households per year for benefits.

FY16 Goal b): Ensure at least 1,000 households receive cash or non-cash benefits per year.

FY16 Goal c): Use POS (Point of Service) system when appropriate to submit electronic applications for SNAP (Food Stamps) and ensure that the site maintains at least an 80% acceptance rate for SNAP POS.

Goal a) NYCP exceeded the goal. We screened 6,837 households to receive benefits

Goal b) NYCP exceeded the goal. 1,689 households received cash or non-cash benefits.

Goal c) NYCP exceeded the goal. We had an acceptance rate of 86.78% for SNAP (Food Stamps) submitted through POS (Point of Service) system.

HotMeals

FY16 Goal: Serve 80,000 meals through the Hot Meals Program (soup kitchen) and Brown Bag Service.

Goal: NYCP has met 89.5% of the goal. NYCP served 71,655 meals through our Hot Meals program and Brown Bag Service.

 

ProjectDignity

FY16 Goal a): Assist 50 unduplicated clients acquire public benefits.

FY16 Goal b): Assist 10 unduplicated clients with resume writing and job search and successfully find at least 2 clients permanent employment.

Goal a) NYCP exceeded the goal. We assisted 63 unduplicated clients acquire public benefits.

Goal b) NYCP exceeded the goal. We provided 32 clients with employment assistance and successfully acquired permanent employments for 8 clients.

FY16 Goal a): Increase individual giving by 5%.

FY16 Goal b): Maintain or increase current level of foundation funding.

FY16 Goal c): Continue to increase food rescue operations, facilitated by the purchase of a third van, by adding at least 15 new partners including 8 which provide weekly pickups. Add evening and weekend pickups as requested.

Goal a) NYCP met the goal. Individual donors gave $753,052 in FY16. This represents an increase of 7% from FY15.

Goal b) NYCP exceeded the goal. Foundation funding increased from $1,015,717 in FY 15 to $1,387,449 in FY16. This represents an increase of 37% from the prior year.

Goal c) NYCP met the goal. In FY16, we added a third food rescue van that picks up food off hours and on weekends as needed.
