The Impact We Have

NY Common Pantry Program Goals & Outcomes:

LiveHealthy

FY17 Goal a): 80% of the school age children participating in Eat Well, Keep Moving program will show an improvement in their knowledge of the benefits of physical activity.

FY17 Goal b): 70% of the adults participating in Eat Healthy, Be Active workshop and Cooking Matters at the Store Tours will improve in their knowledge of foods rich in fiber and the quantities needed to support a healthy diet and will increase their consumption of fiber by 1-2 (3g) servings 2-3 days per week.

Goal a) NYCP exceeded the goal for the contract period ending September 30, 2016. Of the Eat Well Keep Moving participants, 90% either agreed or strongly agreed with the statement “Exercise can help make my heart healthy” and 92.5% either agreed or strongly agreed with the statement “Exercise can help me build muscles”. NYCP exceeded the goal for the contract period ending September 30, 2017, with 91% of children more likely to agree with the statement, “Exercise can help make my heart stronger” and 87.6% agreeing with the statement ” Exercise can help me build muscles”.

Goal b) NYCP exceeded the goal for the contract period ending September 30, 2016. Of Cooking Matters at the Store participants, 92% of adults indicated they would purchase more fruits and vegetables than usual on their next shopping trip. Of participants in the Eat Healthy Be Active program, 82% reported that they had increased their vegetable consumption and 68% reported increasing their whole grain
consumption. NYCP exceeded the goal for the contract period ending September 30, 2017, with 76% of adults improving their knowledge of foods rich in fiber and the quantities needed to support a healthy diet, and with 99% indicating they would purchase more fruits and vegetables on their next shopping trip.

FY18 Goal a): at least 70% of the adults participating in Eat Healthy, Be Active workshops will demonstrate knowledge of foods rich in fiber and the quantities needed to support a healthy diet on a post-test.

FY18 Goal b): By September 30, 2018, Live Healthy! programming will have 8 active partnerships with
schools in New York County District 11 and Bronx County District 7 and 9.

FY18 Goal c): By September 30th, 2018, the PSE programming will increase the number of available Health bucks by (at least) 30% from the previous year, as well as the redemption rate of the Health Bucks distributed by LIVE HEALTHY! to at least 85% redemption rate.

 

ChoicePantry

FY17 Goal a): Provide 9,500 unique individuals with food, for 2,620,004 meals.

FY17 Goal b): Serve at least 5,000 children.

Goal a) NYCP exceeded the goal for individuals and reached 94.5% of the goal for meals. In FY17, we provided 21,446 individuals with a total of 2,472,378 meals through Choice Pantry.

Goal b) NYCP met 89.9% of the goal. We served 4,495 children in FY17.
FY18

Goal a.1) Provide 20,000 unique individuals with 2,300,000 meals through Choice Pantry at 109th Street.

FY18 Goal a.2) Add 3rd and 4th distribution days to provide 8,633 individuals with 620,622 meals through Choice Pantry Bronx.

FY18 Goal b.1) Add 2,000 new families through Choice Pantry at 109th Street.

FY18 Goal b.2) Add 2,500 new families through Choice Pantry Bronx.

Help365

FY17 Goal a): Screen at least 6,000 households with Single Stop’s Benefits Enrollment Network.

FY17 Goal b): Ensure at least 1,000 households receive cash or non-cash benefits per year.

FY17 Goal c): Use POS (Point of Service) system when appropriate to submit electronic applications for SNAP (Food Stamps) and ensure that the site maintains at least an 80% acceptance rate for SNAP POS.

Goal a) NYCP exceeded the goal. We screened 7,391 households to receive benefits

Goal b) NYCP exceeded the goal. 2,053 households received cash or non-cash benefits.Goal c) NYCP exceeded the goal. We had an acceptance rate of 84.35% for SNAP (Food Stamps) submitted through POS (Point of Service) system.

FY18 Goal a): Screen at least 6,000 households with Single Stop’s Benefits Enrollment Network.

FY18 Goal b): Ensure at least 1,500 households receive cash or non-cash benefits per year.

FY18 Goal c): Use POS (Point of Service) system when appropriate to submit electronic applications for SNAP (Food Stamps) and ensure that the site maintains at least an 80% acceptance rate for SNAP POS and submit 25 re-certifications through POS.

FY18 Goal d): Refer at least 220 households for legal counseling, at least 17 households for financial counseling, and 500 eligible filers to free tax preparation sites.

Help 365 Mobile Goals
FY18 Goal: Reach 7,200 individuals with mobile SNAP (Food Stamp) enrollment in high-needs NYC neighborhoods, and submit 1,548 SNAP applications with 950 approvals.

Goal: During ramp-up through the first year of this new program with operations commencing December 1, 2016, by the end of the contract period NYCP reached 2,499 individuals with mobile SNAP applications with 208 approvals. Based on pro-rating the number of months in operation, NYCP reached 42% of the first part of the 12-month goal, and reached 62% and 26% for the second and third parts respectively.

FY18 Goal: Reach 7,200 individuals with mobile SNAP (Food Stamp) enrollment in high-needs NYC neighborhoods, and submit 1,548 SNAP applications with 950 approvals.

 

HotMeals

FY17 Goal: Provide 14,000 unique individuals with 80,000 meals through the Soup Kitchen and Brown Bag services.

Goal: NYCP exceeded the goal for individuals and reached 90% of the goal for meals. We provided 14,831 individuals with a total of 72, 264 meals through the Soup Kitchen and Brown Bag services.

FY18 Goal: Provide 14,000 unique individuals with 70,000 meals through the Soup Kitchen and Brown Bag services.

 

ProjectDignity

FY17 Goal a): Assist 50 unduplicated clients to acquire public benefits.

FY17Goal b): Assist 10 unduplicated clients with resume writing and job search and successfully find at least 2 clients permanent employment.

Goal a) NYCP exceeded the goal. We assisted 63 unduplicated clients acquire public benefits

Goal b) NYCP exceeded the goal. 24 unduplicated clients were assisted with resume and job search and 3 clients obtained permanent employment.

FY18 Goal a): Assist 50 unduplicated clients to acquire public benefits.

FY18 Goal b): help 25 unduplicated clients receive approval for the HRA 2010E Supportive Housing voucher program and successfully move at least 4 into permanent housing.
FY17 Goal: Provide 13,504 seniors with 1,200,000 meals.

Goal: NYCP exceeded the goal for the Fiscal Year. We provided 13,632 individuals with a total of 3,445,852 meals through Nourish program.

FY18 Goal a): Provide between 12,468 and 13,124 individuals with between 3,441,112 and 3,622,224 meals.

FY18 Goal b): Distribute all Farmers Market coupons received during the contract period.

FY17 Goal a): Increase individual giving by 5%.

FY17 Goal b): Maintain or increase current level of foundation funding.

FY17 Goal c): Report on the start-up of our satellite pantry in the South Bronx.

Goal a) NYCP exceeded the goal. Individual donors gave $885,452, to NYCP as in FY17. This represents a 17.5% increase from FY16.

Goal b) NYCP exceeded the goal. Foundation donors gave $1,767,154 to NYCP in FY17. This represents a 27% increase from FY16.

Goal c) NYCP met the goal. In April NYCP opened our Choice Pantry Bronx in the Longwood area. The program had registered 583 families and distributed food two days a week at the end of FY17.
